- Garmisch is in the Bavarian area where people still dress like Hansel and Gretel. The villages and mountains remind you of “The Sound of Music” movie. Cows come through town mornings and evenings. (Bring your cameras to catch the spectacular autumn display.)
- Things to do and see:
Tour a castle; take a ferry trip on a lake; go on very high sky rides over mountains; shop and have tea in the little village of Garmisch or hop over into Austria, just minutes away; go to the cream puff restaurant up the mountain; visit the Salt Mines (where you dress up like miners); walk up and through the Partnach Gorge; visit the Winter Olympics sites; ice skate and so much more. Maps and information are available at the Hotel. - Downtown Garmisch is within walking distance of the Lodge.
- A Military Shopette, PX and gas station are nearby, less than ½ mile.
